This cable is based on the Prolific PL-2303HX USB to Serial Bridge Controller, and designed specifically for quick and easy programming via USB port of the following Entel HX Version 2.0 handheld transceivers: HX402, HX402S, HX403, HX405, HX406, HX412, HX412S, HX412T, HX413, HX415, HX415T, HX416, HX416T, HX422, HX422S, HX422T, HX423, HX425, HX425T, HX426, HX426T, HX432T, HX435T, HX436T, HX446E, HX446L, HX462T, HX465T, HX466T, HX482, HX482S, HX482SU, HX482T, HX482TU, HX482U, HX483, HX483U, HX485, HX485T, HX485TU, HX485U, HX486, HX486T, HX486TU, HX486U, HX492T, HX495T, and HX496T. The power supply is done over the USB interface, following the USB 2.0 specifications. This is not a straight forward cable, there is an internal converter circuit board (interface) mounted in the USB shell.

Many up to date notebook computers support only USB interfaces, but no more Serial Ports. On a desktop PC the few serial devices are already in use. You can connect as many USB devices as you want to your PC. The cable is a new programming interface for USB 2.0 or USB 1.1, for all those new PCs and laptops without Serial Ports. This single USB programming interface cable completely replaces Entel CPROG-HX serial port programming cable.

The cable communicates directly with a computer through the now popular and standard USB interface. A physical Serial Port connection is not needed since the supplied drivers emulate a virtual Serial Port which communicates with a radio at the required TTL voltage levels.
